Crediton Farmers Market - 5th of September, 10am - 1pm. Quality local produce. Best South West Farmers Market 2005. With over 35 stalls this is the largest farmers market in Devon and has been voted the Best Farmers Market in Devon for two years running in the Devon Life Food & Drink Awards. Cloverlly lobster and crab feast in support of the National Lobster Hatchery - 6th of September. A seafood kitchen on the quay with chefs cooking paella and bisque for sale should keep the hunger at bay. There is also a crab preparation demonstration. Craft and food stalls will include a fresh fish, lobster and crab stalls. A prize draw, wine tasting, scavenger hunt and live musicians will be on hand to entertain you through out the day. Children can enjoy a cookery class, join in the Lobster Quadrille and watch a magic show.

Learn to Make Basic Breads at Otterton Mill - Tuesday 8th September 2009, 11:00am until 2:00pm. Come and learn the timeless principles of traditional bread making from the Mills' Head Baker, Roy. These practical sessions take place in small groups within the bakery. You'll learn the secrets of making the perfect loaf by hand, as Roy takes you through the techniques of mixing, clearing, fermentation, knock-back, cutting and scaling, hand moulding, proving and oven baking. These techniques will be used to bake strong white and wholemeal loaves from 100% organic flour. The courses are suited for any ability and are informative and fun.
Aprons and hair coverings are supplied, as well as recipes of the bread you make on the day. The course runs costs £35.00 to book your place call 01395 568521.

Guided Bird Watching Cruises - Stuart Line Cruises - There are a number of cruises from Exmouth Marina. A full timetable of Septembers' cruises is available on there website. The vessel has an open top deck and an enclosed and heated lower deck. Toilets and disabled access is available as well as a refreshments bar selling hot and cold drinks including homemade soup and snacks. Honiton Farmers Market - the 17th of September. A wide variety of local produce will be on offer, including: homemade cakes and pies, rare breed pork, ostrich produce, fresh meat, venison, fresh vegetables, cheese, jam and flowers.
Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival - 18th, 19th and 20th September 2009. The Cottage Company Devon are proud sponsors of Budleigh's first literary festival. Following the successful establishment of the Music and Arts Festival, Budleigh Salterton will in 2009 host its first Literary Festival, sub-titled "Adolphus and all that" in honour of Budleigh's own writer Thomas Adolphus Trollope, (1810-1892) brother of Anthony. Besides a talk by Pamela Neville-Sington on the Trollope family, the historical theme will be strengthened by performances of Coleridge's Table Talk by Dennis Harkness, Charles Dickens by his great great grandson, Gerald Dickens and the work of Hilaire Belloc performed and discussed by Sue Lawley, Hugh Williams and Hugo Swire.. We will have Virginia Ironside, H R F Keating, Sarah Harrison, Val McDermid, Hilary Mantel and Michael Foreman as well as a workshop held in the Playhouse, led by Martin Sorrell on writing plays for the radio. Other events will include an exhibition of Colin See-Paynton prints at the Brook Gallery and a special exhibition "Writers in and around Budleigh Salterton" at the Fairlynch Museum.
