Overview

This 16th century Devon long house is full of beams and character, and combines traditional features with modern décor to offer 5 star holiday accommodation.  Squirrel is very popular and returning guests will see that the new owners have updated the cottage with real creative flair and contemporary furnishings.

Situated in a quiet location near to the church in the village of Woodbury, Devon, this popular holiday cottage is ideal for families or groups due to the split-level accommodation.

The property is entered through a lovely walled courtyard garden - a real sun-trap offering total privacy - into the well equipped farmhouse kitchen. This leads to a charming sitting room with large comfy sofas as well as a dining area and window seat with views to the front of the cottage. The sitting room also has an LCD TV, DVD player and a stereo.

Also on the ground floor is a lovely, bright bedroom that can be arranged with twin beds or as a SuperKing, and a family bathroom which may be useful for guests with limited mobility.

Upstairs there is a light and spacious master bedroom with King size bed and dual aspect to the front and rear, flooding the room with light. Adjacent to this is a second smaller, double bedroom (for single occupancy) and a cloakroom with WC and hand basin.

Squirrel cottage welcomes dogs, see our "local information guide" for further dog owner information. There is parking for one car in a quiet cul de sac directly outside the property with additional parking available in the village.

Woodbury is a popular Devon village with pretty church, a local shop and two friendly, traditional pubs. This is an ideal holiday base to enjoy countryside walks as the open spaces of Woodbury Common are within easy reach whilst the coast is close by with Exmouth beach (sandy) and Budleigh Salterton beach (pebbles) within 10 minutes drive. 

Squirrel Cottage will undergo rennovations commencing October 2010 - ready for bookings again Spring 2011. Photography will be updated as soon as the work is complete.

Dec 2008 "Hi Kate, just a note to say thank you so much to yourself and everyone involved in making our stay at Squirrel Cottage so special and memorable - It was a lovely cottage to welcome the New Year in at (and celebrate my birthday) and the village of Woodbury had everything we needed.  Speaking of which, we must say that the cottage was equipped with everything we could have even imagined it really was like a home from home.  The special little touches like the fresh flowers and the welcome basket and of course not forgetting the treats and bowls/rugs etc for George (the dog) were very much appreciated - We had initially booked our meal for New Years Eve at The Diggers Rest, but amended this to a lunch time visit and instead we managed to get a table at The Green Door, as the note on the cottage board rightly stated, it was great food and we had a wonderful evening - Thank you again for the warm hospitality extended at Squirrel Cottage and we will most certainly hope to return later in the year"
