May 2009 Events

The Cottage Company Devon is pleased to announce that we have now opened our cottage rentals office and shop. The shop is a stones throw from the beautiful beach at Budleigh Salterton. We will be open; Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10am until 4pm and are looking forward to meeting more of our guests at the shop during their stay.

Exeter Farmers Market - A wide variety of fresh local West Country foods are available to try and buy at the Exeter's Farmers Market. The market runs every Thursday throughout the year on the junction of South Street and Fore Street. 9am - 2pm.

Exeter Racecourse - Racedays - Evening racing on the 5th of May & the season grand finale on the 13th of May. Exeter Racecourse is the South West's most prestigious racecourse, sitting high on the top of Haldon Hill, just outside Exeter with wonderful views down towards Dartmoor. It's the highest in UK at 850 feet above sea level, the second longest at 2 miles and has been described as one of the "loveliest" and fairest race tracks in the country. Crediton Farmers Market - 2nd of May, 10am - 1pm. Quality local produce. Best South West Farmers Market 2005. With over 35 stalls this is the largest farmers market in Devon and has been voted the Best Farmers Market in Devon for two years running in the Devon Life Food & Drink Awards. Mamma Mia Italian Market - Friday the 8th 09:00 - 17:00, Saturday the 9th 09:00 - 17:00 and Sunday the 10th of May 10:00 - 16:00. Guided Bird Watching Cruises - Stuart Line Cruises - There are a number of cruises from Exmouth Marina. A full timetable of May's cruises is available on there website. The vessel has an open top deck and an enclosed and heated lower deck. Toilets and disabled access is available as well as a refreshments bar selling hot and cold drinks including homemade soup and snacks. Advanced Booking is strongly recommended for these popular cruises.

50th Anniversary Picnic at Powderham Castle - Sunday the 17th of May 2009. Devon County Show - 21st of May until the 23rd, open 9am til 5pm each day. The Devon County Show is the largest event in the county calendar and is the perfect place to enjoy a virtual tour of rural life. The Tour Series 2009 - City Centre Grand Prix Cycle Race. On the evening of Thursday 28th May 2009, 19:00 - 20:30, the centre of Exeter will be hosting one of the most exciting events the City has seen in recent years. The Tour Series is a programme of 10 televised City Centre cycle races with 50 professional racers competing for victory as they make laps of a tight 1.5km circuit. The event will give residents and visitors the chance to witness first hand the thrills and spills of professional cycling and also see our London 2012 Olympic hopefuls in action.
