The Cottage Company Shop

Our office & shop by the beach at Budleigh Salterton, Devon opened on the 10th of April 2009. The shop will be opening again for the season from Easter 2011 and we are open all year round for holiday rentals, based at our Exeter office. Please call us on 01392 201 341 with any enquiries.

We now have free WiFi internet access available for our current guests to use at our office and shop in Budleigh Salterton, so if you need to check your email please feel free to pop in the shop. The shop in Budleigh Salterton is closed during the quiet winter months, but our office in Exeter is open all year round for holiday cottage rentals. The Cottage Company is delighted to welcome Alison to the team, she will be helping out at the Shop throughout the summer.

Followng 14 year's in textiles and buying at Mothercare and Boden clothing, Alison and her husband renovated an old thatched Manor House in Devon and ran it as a successful 5 star holiday cottage for several years. In 2010 the Devon lifestyle became too much to resist and they moved from London and settled into country life with a new addition - Molly the black labrador.

Alison soon re-discovered her creative side and started making and selling home accessories under the name "daisywillow". Using beautiful fabrics and prints she makes lots of lovely things to sell at local craft shows and on internet craft sites. With her creative side and previous experence in holiday let management, The Cottage Company Devon's shop was a perfect fit.

Alison started at the shop in April and will be helping out with bookings, selling her textile home-wares and helping Kate to source more beautiful handmade items from other Devon craftspeople to offer a truly unique range of gifts and accessories in the shop.

Our Handmade Deckchairs 

We have sourced a number of hardwood deckchair frames and found a local Devon based company to produce handmade one off deckchair slips and head pillows. We have a range of patterns from dogs to spots, there are images of some of the designs available in the gallery below.

We were recently asked to create a MR & MRS pair of deckchairs for a wedding gift and are now starting to get requests for other custom designs. You can see a picture of the deckchairs here.

The slips are all lined to provide a high quality finish and better durability, the pillows can be adjusted to the correct height by making the tie knot higher or lower depending on your height..

The slips are prewashed but we would only recommend spot washing or if very dirty a cold wash and then place the damp slip back on the frame and allow to dry with the frame closed to avoid shrinkage.
